Suggestions for your birth plan

Ask your birth facility about nappies, pads, baby clothing, water/food arrangements and visitor rules before buying extras.
Keep antenatal notes, phone, charger, prescribed medicines list and transport/contact details easy to reach.
Tell maternity staff about regular medicines, allergies and any supplements. Follow their instructions about bringing or taking medicines.
Ask about clean nappies, maternity pads and infection-prevention supplies; hospital policies differ.
The baby should sleep on a firm, flat separate surface without pillows, loose blankets or toys.

Urgent symptoms are more important than packing

If you have heavy bleeding, your waters break, reduced/changed baby movements, severe headache or visual disturbance, contact maternity services promptly. If you have a seizure, collapse, or birth seems imminent, get emergency help.
